Over the weekend of April 20, the boys varsity baseball team played Loyola Academy at the Loyal Academy field. The boys triumphed and came out with a 6-3 win.
Caden Davis started the game for Antioch allowing four hits and two runs over three innings. He struck out one and walked one.
“We were down in the beginning,” sophomore Alexander Kutcher said. “We linked together some key hits and once we got the lead our pitching and defense stepped up and they didn’t score again.”
Following this, in the fourth inning, junior Tyler Skutnik singled on the first pitch of his at bat scoring one run. Then, sophomore Ethan Andrews singled on the first pitch of his at bat, scoring two runs.
“The bats got hot early and we were able to get guys on early,” junior catcher Logan Delgado said. “The bats were able to start driving in runs.”
In the fifth inning the Sequoits put up three runs. Senior Jack Gilllespie and Skutnik both had RBI’s in the inning.
“When we get our bats going we’re unbeatable,” senior center fielder and pitcher Austin Andrews said.
The boys are looking to use this momentum to get their win streak back during this week. They have multiple conference games including two games against Grayslake North.
