Back-to-Back-to-Back-to-Back Champs
Girl’s basketball claims the NLCC Conference Championship.
The girl’s basketball team captured their fourth consecutive conference title at Grayslake North High School, after a 68-53 victory.
The girls went into the game knowing a win would guarantee them a share of the conference title. A final conference game win by Grayslake Central stopped the Sequoits from being solo conference champions, forcing them to share the title with Grayslake North.
The charge was lead by seniors Ashley and Amy Reiser along with Erika Gallimore, but strong play from the rest of the team really made the difference. Junior Olivia Ori contributed five points and stingy defense off the bench; which really helped in the winning effort. Ori was also on Varsity as a sophomore, making this year the second time she has won a conference championship.
“Being a part of another conference championship team feels outstanding,” Ori said. “We all worked very hard to get to this point and from here on out in the playoffs we are going to take it one game at a time and continue to play our game.”
The girls look to have a good week of practice and get ready for the state tournament which takes place over the next few weeks. The girls will play in the regional round at Resurrection Community High School next Friday.
