Aubrey Kay: Profile
A profile of Varsity cheerleader Aubrey Kay.
Junior Aubrey Kay has been a varsity cheerleader for Antioch Community High School for three years now. She has worked incredibly hard to be the athlete she is today. Kay was first introduced to cheerleading at the age of four and has been cheering ever since. With the dedication she has this Sequoit was able to accomplish many goals and has received over thirty medals and counting from personal performances and competitions. It was no walk in the park for Kay or any other athlete to make it to the Varsity level. She has gave the team the greatest amount of effort just to show she has what it takes to be a Varsity cheerleader.
“I’ve been cheering for twelve years, and going through many experiences with cheerleading has pushed me to reach my goal as an Antioch varsity cheerleader and I work every day and practice to keep achieving my goal,” Kay said.
One of the most recent achievements Kay has accomplished is her full (which is a backflip). This peculiar move she has been working on for a very long time on the hard floor.
“Aubrey is one of those people that goes hard every day and is just a team leader,” junior Miranda Karellas said.
Kay has friends on and off the team that support her and cheer her on with everything she does whether it is at a football game or the team’s competitions. She is a dedicated player and plans to take her dedication to the sport she loves to the college level. This junior has her eyes set on attending the University of Iowa and being a Hawkeye cheerleader.
“I’ve been a fan of the Hawkeyes for as long as I can remember,” Kay said. “The program seems amazing and like a great fit. It is also a plus that the college isn’t too far from home either.”
Kay will finish her high school career next year and she will continue to bring motivation with her contagious personality of happiness and never giving up.
“It has been an incredible three years of high school with many great memories and with many more to come,” Kay said. “I’ve learned things from my friends that recently graduated and from the seniors now.”
According to Kay she is very excited for the team and the rest of the season, but her ultimate goal is to make it to state.
