Artist You Should Know: Chance The Rapper
Chance The Rapper is an up and coming soloist as well as member of the band Social Experiment.
Twenty-two-year-old Chancelor Bennett, better know by his stage name Chance The Rapper, is slowly becoming the face of the rap game. Born and raised in the windy city of Chicago, Bennett has released two mix tapes thus far.
Bennett’s first mixtape, “10 Day,” was very successful throughout the Midwest. The name of the mixtape comes from when Chance got suspended from school for ten days due to smoking on campus. During those ten days, he visited his local library and started the production of “10 Day.” Despite the success of “10 Day,” it was his second mixtape, “Acid Rap,” that blew him up throughout the country. It created many connections for Chance The Rapper, like other rappers such as Jay Z, Andre 3000 and many other big names.
Hit songs by Chance The Rapper consist of “Juice,” “Favorite Song,” “Pusha Man,” “Cocoa Butter Kisses,” “14,400 Minutes,” “Brain Cells” and many more, all from only two mixtapes. On top of that, these aren’t even including his new hits, “Heaven Only Knows,” “Sunday Candy” and “Baby Blue.”
Not only is Chance a solo artist, but he is in a band as well. The band, Social Experiment, has announced they will be randomly dropping their first album, “Surf,” sometime in 2015, so more music by Chance is on the way.
Whether a fan of rap or not, it is in someone’s best interest to check out Chance The Rapper, the future face of rap.
