The boys varsity baseball team played in a tough game against the Grant Bulldogs on Tuesday, April 16. Antioch started out strong, becoming the winning team early in the game. They had the lead in the third inning with three runs, but things changed in a hurry.
“We had a bad inning giving Grant six outs in an inning,” junior catcher Logan Delgado said. “We couldn’t scratch any [runs] across.”
The Sequoits went through multiple pitchers including junior Caden Davis and senior Sawyer Phillips. Davis kept the game close by battling back against the Bulldogs, but the Antioch offense couldn’t back him up. The Sequoits ended up losing to Grant 4-3.
“We couldn’t really wrap hits together,” sophomore Kylar Arias said. “There were mainly mental mistakes that cost us the game.”
Although Antioch didn’t get the outcome they wanted, the boys look to redeem themselves and get back on track to state when they play the Grant Bulldogs again on Friday, April 26.
