Antioch Trumps Tremper
The Sequoits head over to Kenosha seeking revenge.
The Antioch Sequoits varsity football team sought revenge this past friday night. After last years heartbreaking loss to Kenosha Tremper, the Sequoits had this game marked on their calendars since day 1 of practice this summer. The Sequoits whom finished 7 and 3 last year, looked for that first victory of the season at Kenosha Tremper. Head coach Brian Glashagel was confident from day 1.
“I felt very confident going into this game. But, after the first quarter, second quarter I go here we go again,” Glashagel said. “But what’s nice, we were challenged, we were down, we came back, and explored in the second half.”
Senior captain Griffin Hill a 3 year varsity starter has all the pressure to perform every friday night. When asked how does he deal with the pressure Hill responded, “Just talking to other players really helps and realizing we are all just in it together.”
“I saw it in the air and I heard guys yelling poison, (get away from the ball) but I went for it and no one was in my way so I had a clear path,” said junior Ben Gutke. “I could have played harder, covered my assignments better. But, it was a good team win and we are looking forward to Moline next friday,” Says Junior Middle Linebacker Ben Gutke on behalf of his blocked punt return.
The Sequoits home opener is friday September 4th against Moline. Let’s make it 2-0 on the season boys!
