Antioch Tennis Takes Down Round Lake
Boy’s tennis handed the Panthers a loss last night after a series of comeback victories.
Antioch boy’s tennis won five of seven matches on April 14. Many of the Sequoit matches were won in comebacks, the team traveled to Round Lake and won two of three single matches and three of four doubles matches against the Panthers.
Despite the end result, the Panthers gave Antioch a tough showing; many of the Sequoits lost their first matches. Even though many of the Sequoits were losing, they came back and won.
Senior and first year tennis player Nino Galante believes the team performed very well against Round Lake. The ability to be down, but have the mindset to come back, is a skill Galante says is very important.
“I think that’s one of the biggest things we can do moving forward,” Galante said. “To be able to take a loss the first set but still stay on track to win the next one instead of getting derailed.”
The Antioch tennis team continues to improve week-to-week and should be exciting to watch.
The team’s next match is this upcoming Monday against Hampshire at the D117 Tennis Facility at Lakes Community High School.
