An Inside Look at Reality TV
Reality TV shows are either a hit or miss for people and here are some popular shows.
Many people look down on reality television shows, but some of them may be worth watching. Not all reality shows are about people’s luxurious lives and the drama within them. Some shows may teach how to survive or show the talents of ordinary people. Just like any television genre, reality has a plot with drama, everyday life and parts that can get somebody out of their seat.
“I think that reality shows are very over dramatic, but that’s what makes them funny,” sophomore Isabella DeMartini said. “[They are] entertaining and seem like good shows.”
One popular reality show that has been around for a long time is “Survivor,” which is about ordinary people who are put on an island with almost nothing and perform in various obstacle courses and compete for money.
Another show targeted mainly towards teen girls is “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” It seems that people either love the show or hate it, but it is about a celebrity family and their daily lives.
One final popular reality show is “The Bachelor” or “The Bachelorette.” The show is based on one person in search of love. The show starts out with 20-30 contestants in which the bachelor/bachelorette takes them on dates while traveling the world. By the end there is one proposal for the favorite contender. It may sound crazy but some of the relationships built in the show actually last in real life.
“My favorite reality tv shows are Survivor and Big Brother, because I get to watch people compete for things,” sophomore Madison Merrill said. “I always watch these two shows with my family and we try and guess who would win the million dollars.”
There are many reality television shows in the world. While the shows are either a hit or miss; the ones that seem to be the most popular have lasted many years. Overall, reality television is a form of entertainment that many enjoy.
