Starting January 31st, the classic play All My Sons will be performed at the PM&L theater in downtown Antioch. This play, written by Arthur Miller, who also wrote Death of a Salesman, features the story of two families ruined by a crime committed during World War II
The events of the play are actually true. During the war, army inspection officers approved the use of defective aircraft engines for planes that were used by the military. This resulted in unnecessary deaths and an investigation by Congress. This event inspired Miller to write All My Sons.
“The play is about lies: people lying to themselves, lying to each other,” said Tom Hausman, director of All My Sons. “It is still relevant to what is happening today.”
The play shows the audience the aftermath of the war on the Keller and Deever families. Joe Keller and Steve Deever were responsible for selling defective aircraft engines and Steve is in prison for it. Both families are faced with the effects of this and it is the driving force behind everyone’s actions.
The story of the Keller and Deever families will be played out on stage from Jan. 31st to Feb. 16th.
