On November 18th, senior Adam Harvey officially signed to play baseball for Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Harvey has been playing baseball since he was four and he plays catcher for the baseball team here at ACHS.
“The thing I like best about baseball is that it is never the same every game. What else I like about it, is that just because you’re winning you don’t need to run the clock down to hold your spot but you have to throw another pitch to give the guy another chance,” said Harvey.
Paul Petty, ACHS physical education and drivers’ ed. teacher, has coached Harvey for three of his four years in the baseball program at ACHS.
“[Harvey] works really hard and is focused. He always has a goal in mind,” said Petty.
Harvey received a 40% scholarship to play baseball with Cornerstone University and the opportunity to play catcher his freshman year. Petty thinks he will be a good addition to Cornerstone’s team.
“He wants to get better and is never satisfied,” said Petty.
Harvey chose Cornerstone because of its religious background.
“I am a Christ follower and I get to play the game I love with people of the same faith,” said Harvey.
Harvey will start at Cornerstone in the fall of 2014.
