The Illinois State Board of Education released its annual Illinois School Report Cards on Oct. 31 revealing Antioch Community High School’s notable improvement from last year. The report cards summarize each school’s academic progress, school environment and student characteristics. This includes the Prairie State Achievement Exam results, 5 Essentials survey results and a summary of student demographics.
According to the Daily Herald, ACHS achieved the largest increase in PSAE Reading and Mathematics scores from 2012 to 2013 of all high schools in Lake County. The school also posted the second largest increase on PSAE Science scores.
ACHS Principal Bradford Hubbard said, “I think the report that came out shows that we’ve made a lot of strides in the past year to improve the experience for our students here at Antioch. … The report for us just reflects a lot of our hard work … our challenge now becomes how to replicate that.”
Earlier in the year, both Antioch and Lakes Community High Schools were named as two of the few schools in the area that met the Annual Yearly Progress standards.
