ACHS Students Rekindle Friendships Over Carnations
Student council distributes flowers for Valentine’s Day.
It is a common misconception that Valentine’s Day is only for those involved in relationships. However, it is not only a day to show a significant other how much you appreciate them, but your friends and family as well.
With the holiday just around the corner, student council sold carnations in the commons during lunch periods for $1.
While many couples bought and exchanged these flowers, plenty of friends participated in the carnation-sending as well.
Many recipients receive a surprise when someone buys them a flower. They have no idea until the day it’s delivered. For many, it is a nice way to make someone’s day better.
“I didn’t know I was receiving the flower,” freshman Amber Phillips said. “It was a nice surprise from my friend, and it really brightened up my day.”
Each carnation sold also comes with an attached message from the sender, which is a nice way to add a personal touch to this gift. The sender writes the note themselves, and it then gets passed on to the recipient.
“I got mine from a friend so the note wasn’t anything sappy,” Phillips said. “It was really funny, and I thought it was a really cute way to make someone’s day.”
