Good evening Sequoit Stakeholder,
At this point, I am hopeful that you have received notice that school has been canceled for tomorrow, January 7, 2015. Due to the declining temperatures and potentially dangerous windchill, I firmly believe this was the prudent and correct call. In addition to classes, all athletics and activities for tomorrow have been canceled. Please know that the safety and wellbeing of our students is and always will be our top priority. Please take appropriate precautions should you have to venture out tomorrow and please stay safe…we care deeply about each and every one of you.
On a separate note, I want to briefly address a posting that was placed on Facebook at some point earlier today. We believe an individual created a file that looked as though it was a screenshot from our District 117 website. An image of this file was brought to our attention late this afternoon. While we are not sure how widespread the posting was, the content contained inappropriate and offensive language. This incident is unfortunate, frustrating, and certainly not congruent with the respect, responsibility, and pride that we try to instill and exemplify. I apologize for the offensive nature of this posting, can assure you that it was not posted on our website, will work diligently to address the creator(s) of the content, and try our best to make sure this does not happen again.
I greatly value your partnership, trust, and support, therefore, I believe this open and honest communication is necessary.
Thank you for your understanding and, again, please be safe tomorrow.
Respectfully,
Bradford Hubbard
