A Day in the Life of a Wrestler

Wrestling is not like any other sport, and their everyday practice is different than other sports too.

Practices for wrestlers start with the routine of stretching. Wrestlers have to do a dynamic stretch as well as a stationary stretches such as toe touches, neck rolls and arm stretches. The wrestlers need to stretch out to prevent any unnecessary injuries. After stretches, everyday can be different for them.

“We’ll have days where we will work entirely on our feet and some days we’ll be in referees wrestling from our knees either working for a breakdown or standing up to get that one,” junior De’Andre Burns said.

Everyday is different because there isn’t routine practices, but the wrestlers always make sure they have their basic moves down every practice so they always have those near perfect. Every practice they learn a new move to take someone down or to escape an opponent. This is all working towards to when the wrestlers compete in a match, and it comes down to the wrestler to be quick and execute the correct move.

A day in wrestlers life is different than the majority of athletes because their practices vary in intensity and activity. Days are never routine for wrestlers, there is always something different or new day to day. The wrestlers work everyday so the team and the individuals can do the best they can do.
