2016 Holiday Gala Reins in Success, Holiday Cheer
ACHS hosts its 2016 Holiday Gala performance, raises funds for the Fine Arts Department.
After years of presenting a Holiday Lights and Holiday Cafe performance during the month of December each year, the ACHS fine arts department stepped up the quality of the performance by hosting their 2016 Holiday Gala as a professional dinner show at Maravela’s in Fox Lake. With a large turnout on Friday, December 2, attendees of the event received a full course meal and dined with family and friends while enjoying music and theatre from top tier students of the fine arts department.
“It was successful compared to years in the past because it was organized, more money was raised and a wide variety of people came out to the show,” senior Kar Toman said.
Not only did the two hour event offer music and drama, but it auctioned off several high-priced items and began selling the music teachers’ newly released Christmas CD “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” to raise money for the department.
“This was one of our most successful performances,” choir teacher Michael Hickey said. “We raised over $5,500 and are thankful for those who participated.”
From gospel songs to instrumental Christmas themes to holiday skits, the 2016 Holiday Gala revealed the variety of talent found within Antioch’s music and theater department and helped instill Christmas spirit into the Sequoit community.
