- Mr. ACHS Competition
While senior boys from all walks of life showed up Wednesday night to reveal special talent, Booker Grass won the Sequoit crowning of Mr. ACHS after a music-based performance.
- Wear-Out-Wednesday
This week’s Wear-Out-Wednesday theme is “When I Grow Up,” encouraging students to dress for their future vocational career and job interests.
- Lacrosse Team Surges
As the weather warms, so do the intensity of Spring, pre-season practices. Not only are Track & Field, Soccer and Baseball gearing up for tryouts, but also the newly found Lacrosse Team. Combined with Lakes and Antioch students, the District 117 sport continues to host open gym nights until the end of February, when the team tryouts are scheduled to take place.
- AP Registration Continues
The semester continues in full surge as classes prepare for their year end final exams. For those in AP classes and looking to take the exam, registration and fees are due by the end of the day on Thursday, March 2.
- Wrestling State Championship
Senior Patrick Schoenfelder won State Champion for wrestling over the weekend. As the first Sequoit to ever claim a 1st place title in Wrestling, he set a record for Antioch and it’s future in this sport.
- New Secretary of Defense
Following controversy with Russian relations and the resignation of National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, President Trump announced his new pick for the leadership over America’s security. Lt. Gen. McMaster was officially revealed as the new National Security Advisor on Monday, February 20 in a press conference with Trump.
- Car Bombing in Baghdad
An unexpected car bomb erupted in southern Baghdad on Thursday, February 16. Killing 55 and injuring more than 60, the suicidal incident is being named as one of the deadliest of 2017.
- Storms Rain Down onto Southern CA
Suffering from a drought for much of the past year, California is expected to receive an “atmospheric river” of rain in the next few days. Accompanied by wind gusts up to 199 mph and several inches of rain, the Northern California area continues to suffer from extreme flooding.
- Sequoit Sidekicks Hockey Game
The Sequoit Sidekicks club plans to play their neighboring friends from Lakes on Tuesday, February 21 directly after school. Starting around 3:20, the hockey game will be open for all students or community members to attend.
- Sequoits Get Into Community
Along with the many festivities of Summer In Winter Week, ACHS students made themselves known within the community last week. Including a trip to hear Ndaba Mandela speak and a service project to volunteer at the Feed My Starving Children organization, Sequoits were able to take and give to the lake County area and hope to continue to make an impact in the future.
